Cookie policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This site uses very little: no profiling or advertising cookies, no third-party analytics. Below is everything, in line with the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools (10 June 2021).

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a site saves on your device. Similar tools, such as the browser’s local storage, work the same way. Here we call them all “cookies”.

Technical cookies (always on, no consent needed)

  • mr_consent — browser local storage. Remembers your cookie choice. Duration: 6 months.
  • mr_notrack — browser local storage. It exists only for the site owner, to avoid counting their own visits. Visitors do not receive it.
  • Private-area session cookie (sb-…-auth-token) — set only for whoever signs in as administrator. Visitors do not receive it.

Anonymous statistics (no cookies)

We count visits with our own tool. It uses no cookies or device storage, does not save your IP and does not combine data with other sources. The code identifying a visit changes every day and cannot be traced back to you. It is not a cookie and needs no consent, but you can still turn it off in the preferences, and we honour the browser’s Do Not Track signal. Details in the privacy notice.

Third-party content (only with your consent)

Until you accept, this content is not loaded and you see a notice instead. After consent, the providers may set their own cookies and collect data under their own notices:

  • YouTube (Google) — playback of the Shorts videos. We use the enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Notice: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Substack — newsletter signup form. Notice: substack.com/privacy.

No profiling

We do not use profiling, advertising or social network cookies, nor tracking pixels.

How to give, refuse or change consent

  • On your first visit a notice appears with equally prominent “Reject” and “Accept” buttons, and “Customize” to choose item by item. Scrolling the page does not count as consent.
  • You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.
  • After 6 months we will ask again, or sooner if the services we use change.
  • You can also clear site data or block cookies from your browser settings; some third-party features may stop working.
